The issue of an ISP's right to datamine their customers was the topic featuring keynote speaker Jon Lebowitz, who, according to Wikipedia, is "founding Co-Chair of the "21st Century Privacy Coalition," a coalition of telecommunications companies and trade associations focused on relaxing federal privacy laws."

What has become a war between the FTC and the FCC, the telcos are considering it a right to collect calling data, while the FTC considers it a consumer issue.  The panel consisting of Harold Feld and Richard Bennett managed to cover both sides of the issue.
